What Is an Age Calculator?
An age calculator is a simple tool that works out exactly how much time has passed between your date of birth and today — or any other date you choose. Instead of doing mental arithmetic with years, months and varying month lengths, the calculator instantly returns your precise age in years, months and days, along with useful totals such as your age in weeks, days, hours, minutes and even seconds.
People use age calculators for far more than curiosity. Exact age matters when you fill in official forms, apply for jobs or visas, check eligibility for exams, school admission, insurance, pensions and retirement, or simply want to know how many days remain until your next birthday. Because months have 28 to 31 days and leap years add an extra day roughly every four years, calculating a precise age by hand is surprisingly easy to get wrong — a dedicated calculator removes the guesswork.
How to Use This Age Calculator

How Age Is Calculated
This calculator uses the most widely accepted convention: your age increases by one on each birthday, and the remainder is expressed in whole months and days using real calendar lengths. The method works like this:
Example: Someone born on 15 March 2000 checking their age on 7 August 2026:
Years: 2000 → 2026 with the birthday already passed = 26 years. From 15 March to 15 July is 4 months; from 15 July to 7 August is 23 days. Exact age: 26 years, 4 months, 23 days.
Because months have different lengths (28–31 days), the "months and days" part of an age can differ slightly depending on the counting convention. Leap Years and February 29 Birthdays
Roughly one in every 1,461 people is born on 29 February, a date that only exists in leap years. This calculator handles leap years automatically because it works with real calendar dates. Age in Different Cultures
The way age is counted is not universal. The international system counts completed years — you are 0 at birth and turn 1 on your first birthday. The traditional East Asian system, best known from Korea, counted a baby as 1 at birth and added a year every New Year, which could make a person one or even two years "older" than their international age.
